Hanging a Mezuzah and Information
The concept of a mezuzah comes from the Torah, “And you shall inscribe them on the doorposts (mezuzot) of your house and on your gates”. Some people believe that the mezuzah provides special protection over the residents of the home where it hangs, and when they pass by a mezuzah some people have the custom of kissing it (usually touching the mezuzah with their hand, then kissing their hand).
The blessing is recited once, before putting up the mezuzahs.
Here’s the Hebrew text:
בָּרוּך אַתָּה אַדָנָ-י אֶלוֹהֵ-ינוּ מֶלֶך הָעוֹלָם אַשֶר קְדִשָנוּ בְּמִצְווֹתָיו וְצִיווָנוּ לִקְבּוֹעַ מְזוּזָה
Here’s how it sounds:
Baruch Atah A-do-nai Elo-heinu Melech haolam asher kideshanu bemitzvotav vetzivanu likboa mezuzah.
Here’s what it means:
Blessed are you, L-rd our G‑d, King of the Universe, Who has made us holy with His commandments and commanded us to affix a mezuzah.
Position the mezuzah it should be towards the outer edge of the doorpost, on a slant with the top pointing inwards to the room. Immediately after reciting the blessing, affix the mezuzah.
What rooms need a mezuzah?
All rooms that are approximately 6.5 feet by 6.5 feet (or its equivalent of 37 square feet) are required to have a mezuzah. A mezuzah is not needed for bathrooms, shower rooms or rooms like that.

Tips and Tricks
Changing the color of the foam lettersA lot of our DIY kits come with foam letters (English and Hebrew) the letters in the kit will vary in color. Sometimes all the letters are the same color, sometimes they aren't. But they are able to be painted or colored. I recommend using a permanent marker or paint pen for the most control. However, paint and a brush work as well.
